Student & Pilot manual

This manual covers everyone in the "member" side of the Dashboard who flies or learns:

  • Students — training towards a licence or rating (the full experience).
  • Qualified pilots — licensed pilots who hire/rent aircraft but aren't in training.
  • Social members — club members who don't fly.

Most of this page is written for students; the Qualified pilot and Social member sections below note what's different for them.

Key tasks

Request a lesson or booking

  1. Open My Calendar.
  2. Pick the day and time you'd like to fly.
  3. Choose the booking type (e.g. lesson) and, if offered, a preferred aircraft or instructor.
  4. Submit. Your request goes to the school as pending.

Pending vs confirmed

A request isn't a confirmed flight until the school approves it. You'll get a notification when it's confirmed (or if it's declined). Confirmed bookings show on your calendar.

Check what's coming up

Your Home dashboard shows your next booking. My Calendar shows everything — select any booking to see its details, and to cancel if your school's rules allow it.

Follow your training progress

  • My Courses lists your course(s); open one to see its lessons and materials.
  • My Progress shows how far you've come through the syllabus, lesson by lesson.
  • After each flight, your instructor grades the lesson and adds a debrief — you'll see the grade and notes here.

Do a quiz

Open Quizzes to see any knowledge quizzes set for you, complete them online and see your results.

View and print your logbook

Pilot's Logbook is your running flight record. Use Pilot's Logbook → print for a clean, printable copy for your paper logbook or a licence application.

Check your account and balance

Open My Account to see your membership, current balance (prepaid credit or an amount outstanding) and a history of charges, payments and refunds. Invoices your school raises appear here too.

Keep your documents up to date

My Documents holds your medical, licence, ID and any school records. Upload new versions when things are renewed — expiry dates are tracked so you and the school get a reminder before anything lapses.

Qualified pilot — differences

Qualified pilots use the same area as students, minus training. You get:

  • Home, My Calendar, Pilot's Logbook, Quizzes, My Documents, My Account and My Settings.

You don't see My Progress or My Courses, because you're not working through a training syllabus. Booking an aircraft, keeping your logbook, managing documents and your account all work exactly as described above.

Hiring an aircraft

Request the aircraft and time from My Calendar just like a lesson — choose the rental booking type if your school offers it. The flight still posts to your logbook and your account afterwards.

Social member

Social (non-flying) members have the simplest view — My Account and My Settings only. Use My Account to see your membership status, renewal date and any transactions. There's no calendar, logbook or training, because a social membership doesn't include flying.

Tips

  • Request early — popular slots and instructors fill up; the sooner you request, the better the chance of your preferred time.
  • Watch your balance — top up before a block of lessons so a low balance never holds up a booking.
  • Keep your medical and licence current — upload renewals as soon as you have them.
